RAINN and Public Policy

RAINN's Policy Department educates policy makers, the media, allies, and the public about issues of importance to rape victims. In order to advance RAINN's anti-sexual assault agenda, the Policy Department advocates and lobbies for increased victim support and stricter laws for rapists nationwide.

Additionally, the Policy Department tracks and analyzes laws and policies affecting victims of sexual assault and works collaboratively with allied organizations to advance its anti-sexual assault agenda. RAINN provides technical assistance to over 1,100 rape crisis centers nationwide on state mandatory reporting requirements, disseminates information on updated sexual assault laws and policies, and serves as a national source of information for RAINN staff, rape crisis centers, criminal justice agencies, and allied organizations.
