Announcing RAINN’s Thrive Together Campaign

RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization, today announces the launch of our Thrive Together campaign, a strategic $10 million, two-year fundraising effort to increase critical resources to ensure RAINN is positioned to support anyone affected by sexual violence when they need us most.

Over the past 26 years, RAINN has provided critical support to more than 3.5 million people through the National Sexual Assault Hotline and our survivor-centered and trauma-informed programs.

Demand for RAINN’s unique expertise and support has soared over the past few years. Before so many took to Twitter to say #MeToo, our victim service programs were helping an average of about 15,000 survivors and their loved ones each month; today, as the world grapples with COVID-19, that number has doubled to an average of nearly 30,000 each month.

RAINN’s commitment to survivors has never wavered, and as public awareness grows and the country prioritizes the fight against sexual violence, RAINN recognizes the critical need to expand capacity and identify new resources to provide free, confidential, empathetic support, 24/7. This is why we were driven to create RAINN’s Thrive Together campaign. Funds raised through the Thrive Together campaign will enable us to allocate additional resources to three strategic initiatives to support survivors and help end sexual violence:

  • Answering the Call. You’re not alone. In addition to expanding our team of support specialists, we will expand our online training program and create new technological innovations to enhance our services and increase our capacity to help survivors.
  • Shaping the Narrative. Stories have the power to spark change. We will harness our national scope and longstanding partnerships with the entertainment industry to lead the conversation around sexual violence, raise awareness and educate the public through the media and entertainment, and bring hope to survivors and their loved ones by amplifying the voices of survivors.
  • Championing Change. Now more than ever, thoughtful public policy is the key to transforming the way our country addresses sexual violence. We will build coalitions and launch strategic efforts to enact survivor-informed change across the country, protect vulnerable populations from sexual abuse, and ensure all survivors have access to critical care and services.

Once fully funded, these initiatives will help transform the lives of survivors. Without the generosity of our earliest campaign supporters, this work would not be possible. RAINN is proud to share that we surpassed our 50% fundraising milestone and would like to gratefully recognize National Leadership Council member and former hotline volunteer Marci Matthews, Platinum Corporate Partner Lyft, and the generous investment in RAINN by MacKenzie Scott for helping to make the Thrive Together campaign a reality.

We know that together, we can do more than survive — we will thrive. To join our effort, or for more information about the Thrive Together campaign, please contact RAINN’s vice president of development, Andrea M. Pagano-Reyes, at 202-306-9759 or andreap@rainn.org or visit rainn.org/ThriveTogether.
