USA Network Joins RAINN in the Fight Against Sexual Violence
Viewers of the #1 cable channel, USA Network, are now being connected with the help they deserve thanks to a new public service campaign for the National Sexual Assault Hotline. The campaign features two public service announcements by actors Callie Thorne and Mehcad Brooke from USA’s hit show Necessary Roughness.
The campaign aims to help survivors of sexual violence take the first steps towards recovery with RAINN. Thorne and Brooke encourage viewers to contact the National Sexual Assault Hotline via phone (800-656-HOPE) or online chat (online.rainn.org), saying “If this has happened to you or someone you love, it’s not too late to get help.” Since 1994, more than 1.7 million people have been helped through the hotlines.
The campaign is a partnership between USA Network’s Characters Unite program and RAINN. To learn more about the campaign and the issue of sexual violence, visit: http://www.charactersunite.com/issues/violence
About Characters Unite
Characters Unite, USA Network's public affairs campaign, was created to address the social injustices and cultural divides still prevalent in our society. Inspired by USA Network's iconic "Characters Welcome" brand and with the support of leading national nonprofit organizations, the ongoing campaign is dedicated to supporting activities and messaging that combat prejudice and intolerance while promoting understanding and acceptance - on-air, online, and in communities across the country.
RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization and was named one of “America’s 100 Best Charities” by Worth magazine. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800.656.HOPE and online.rainn.org) in partnership with more than 1,100 local rape crisis centers across the country and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense. The hotlines have helped more than 1.7 million people since 1994. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help victims and ensure that rapists are brought to justice.
