National Sexual Assault Hotline Internship: How To Apply

Potential interns must submit the following:

  1. A cover letter
    1. Please indicate whether you are applying for a full or part-time position
    2. Please indicate the dates you are interested in interning
  2. A current resume
  3. Three professional references
  4. A writing sample (1-3 pages)

*If your application is accepted, this internship requires a criminal background check (done through RAINN at no cost to you, completed after your application is approved).

Preference may be given to applicants who are able to intern for both fall and spring semesters.

Currently accepting applications for fall internships on a rolling basis.

Full-time: 40 hrs/week
Part-time: 20 hrs/week

 

Duties:

  • Be on time for shifts scheduled using the online hotline website
  • Complete 40 hours of crisis intervention training
  • Follow computer safety best practices learned in the online training
  • Remain supportive and engaged with visitors
  • Provide accurate support using crisis intervention best practices
  • Work on research and administrative tasks relative to the online hotline

Qualifications:

  • Applicable Majors: Counseling, Social Work, Women and Gender Studies, Mental Health, Public Heath, Psychology, Sociology, etc…
  • Able to work some nights and/or weekends from home
  • Exceptional communication skills both verbal & written
  • Computer proficiency including instant messaging is a must
