Is my donation tax-deductible?

RAINN is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (tax ID: 52-1886511), so your donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law, provided no goods or services were exchanged. After donating, you’ll immediately receive an email receipt suitable for tax purposes, along with a paper acknowledgment by mail.

How do I include RAINN in my will or estate plan?

Planned giving helps RAINN expand vital programs supporting survivors long into the future. You can include RAINN in your will through estate gifts, life-income arrangements, charitable trusts, or by naming us as a retirement or insurance beneficiary.

We recommend consulting your financial advisor to determine the best option for your circumstances.

How can I start fundraising for RAINN?

Thank you for your interest in supporting RAINN! You can fundraise through creative projects, events, and campaigns. To get started, visit our fundraising page. You’ll receive helpful resources and tips for a successful fundraiser.

What is workplace giving, and how does it work?

Many employers offer matching gift programs that could double your donation to RAINN. Check if your company participates using this Match Search Tool, or contact your HR department to learn more.

How do I donate through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)?

Federal employees, including military and postal workers, can support RAINN through automatic payroll deductions via the CFC using RAINN’s code: 10488. The campaign runs annually, typically from September 1–December 15.

RAINN is a member of America’s Best Charities and Best of the CFC.

State employees can participate in similar programs. Check your state’s campaign materials or contact your HR department to designate RAINN.

Where is my donation receipt?

Online donations: You’ll receive an immediate email receipt and a paper acknowledgment by mail.

Check donations: You’ll receive a paper acknowledgment by mail after processing.

RAINN’s tax ID number is 52-1886511.

For missing receipts, email development@rainn.org.

How can I request a donation refund or return merchandise?

Donations: Full or partial refunds are available within 30 days of your donation date. To request a refund, please forward your receipt to development@rainn.org. 

Merchandise: Return unused items in original packaging within 60 days to: RAINN, 1220 L St NW, Suite 500, Washington, DC 20005. 

Please email your original receipt to development@rainn.org with the reason for your return, or include a printed copy with your return shipment.

Refunds: All refunds will be issued via your original payment method. Original shipping fees are refundable only if the return is due to our error.

How do I update or cancel my monthly donation?

Modify or cancel your recurring gift anytime by emailing development@rainn.org or calling 202-590-8259.

How do I make a tribute or memorial gift?

Honor someone special by selecting “This gift is in honor or memory of someone” during the donation process. You’ll have the option to provide the honoree’s details for notification. Your donation amount remains confidential unless specified.

Can I donate anonymously?

Yes. Simply select “This gift is anonymous” during checkout to ensure your name remains confidential publicly. RAINN securely stores your information only for processing purposes and does not share your details externally.

Can I donate without joining email or direct mail lists?

We respect your privacy and will only use your contact information to process your donation and send a tax receipt. 

Opt out of future communications by emailing development@rainn.org, calling 202-590-8259, or selecting “unsubscribe” in any email from RAINN.

Can I donate via phone or mail?

By phone: Call 202-590-8259, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m. ET.

By mail: Send checks or money orders payable to RAINN to:

For security, please do not mail cash

How much of my donation supports survivors and programs?

RAINN responsibly directs the vast majority of every dollar donated toward vital survivor programs and services. RAINN is a member of America’s Best Charities and Best of the CFC.

Is donating to RAINN secure?

Absolutely. Our donation process complies with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). We employ advanced encryption and regularly scan our systems to safeguard your personal and financial information.t

What are my rights as a donor?

RAINN fully endorses the Donor Bill of Rights, guaranteeing transparency, respect, confidentiality, and accountability.
