ABC's General Hospital joins RAINN in supporting male survivors

For the first time on daytime TV, ABC's show General Hospital will address the experience of male survivors of sexual violence! In an episode, airing January 31, 2011, character Michael Corinthos (played by actor Chad Duell), reveals to his loved ones that he was sexually assaulted while serving time in prison. Now, out of prison, Michael has been experiencing the shame, fear, and stigma and devastating emotional effects of the assault for several months. In this episode, unable to deal with the trauma alone, Michael finally is able to reveal what happened to him in prison. In conjunction with this disclosure, General Hospital viewers will be connected with the help they deserve through the National Sexual Assault Hotlines in a RAINN PSA starring General Hospital actors Chad Duell and Andrea Bogart.

If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, please know that the assault is not your fault and that you are not alone. It's never too late to get help. To speak with someone who can help you, call the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800.656.HOPE) or visit the Online Hotline. Free, confidential, 24/7.
