Following Mackenzie Phillips' disclosure of her incestual relationship with her father, many survivors of sexual abuse and assault have been inspired to come forward and get the help they deserve.

Christina Ricci, RAINN’s national spokesperson, and Scott Berkowitz, RAINN’s president, spent the day meeting with some of RAINN’s key allies on Capitol Hill to discuss pending legislation to combat sexual violence. Congress will soon vote on crucial funding to expand the use of DNA in rape investigations and ensure that victims get the hotline and support services necessary to aid their recovery.

Christina Ricci headlined a RAINN fundraiser this month to ensure that the National Sexual Assault Hotlines can continue to provide free, confidential support for those in need. Rep. Jane Harman, who has helped lead Congress’ efforts to fight sexual assault in the military, was there to update RAINN’s supporters on the progress being made.

RAINN is auctioning a live presentation of Can I Kiss You?, by Mike Domitrz. Can I Kiss You? has been used by hundreds of schools, universities and military installations to teach males and females about healthy dating and intimacy.

1in6, a nonprofit organization that provides information and resources to adult male survivors of childhood sexual abuse, has partnered with RAINN to create the 1in6 Online Hotline.

The number of visitors helped by the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline has more than doubled in the past year. To meet this increased demand, RAINN has launched an updated version of the Online Hotline. OHL 2.0, as we call it, has new features, new information and resources for visitors, and tools that will help our staff and volunteers serve even more users.

RAINN partnered with Nickelodeon’s teen network, The N, and its #1 show, Degrassi, for the season's premiere episode, dealing with the issue of child sexual abuse. Following the airing of the episode, calls to the Hotline increased 500%!

Holly Dunn Pendleton, a member of RAINN’s Speakers Bureau, was featured in the “Heroes Among Us” section of the June 29, 2009 issue of People magazine. The article, “A Serial Killer’s Sole Survivor,” highlights Holly’s path to recovery after her attack.
