August 15, 2006 — After months of development and working with experts such as McAfee, Verisign, AOL and KnowNow, the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline has begun its pilot phase. To gather information on usage patterns, scheduling needs and call times, RAINN is administering a pilot phase of the service. July 26, 2006 — RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) commends the U.S. Congress and the president for a vitally-needed new law that will crack down on 100,000 missing sex offenders and help keep the nation's children safe from predators. July 6, 2006 — Holly Dunn Pendleton, a member of the RAINN Speakers Bureau, was recently honored in Washington at the 2006 Jefferson Awards. Holly is the only surviving victim of a serial killer and rapist, who was recently executed in Texas for his crimes. Since her attack, Holly has worked as an advocate for victims of sexual assault and created Holly's House, a center for victims
July 5, 2006 — All 50 states are now participating in the National Sex Offender Public Registry (NSOPR) Web site, the Justice Department announced. The Department of Justice-sponsored site allows parents and concerned citizens to search existing public state and territory sex offender registries beyond their own states.
